This type of project has been on my "Want To Do" list for quite some time! I saw a great deal on some pool noodles at my local grocery store and already had the yarn I wanted to use. This non-slip Lightsaber Hilt pattern makes for soft play for the Jedis and Siths in your life. My kids loved whacking each other without any tears so I'd say this project was a win!

Have you ever started a project for yourself and then had the best idea to gift it to someone else for their birthday because you knew they would love it way more than you?
I made a Harry Potter advent countdown for my bestie's birthday. Opening one package a day, she'll reveal one Harry Potter themed crochet doll after another with the last one on her actual birthday. I also added a Hogwarts worthy letter in the basket to explain how the whole thing would work. I may or may not have needed an excuse to purchase a Hogwarts wax seal kit *wink, wink. The last doll is my friend as a Quidditch player with her favorite number. Pattern: Harry Potter Crochet kit Nerd dream becoming a reality. I was commissioned to make Molly Weasley's crazy, amazing sweater for an avid Harry Potter fan. It was so exciting! The sleeves took the longest because of the 34 color changes and learning new stitches I've never done before. It took half the time to do the second sleeve but tucking in the ends of the yarn from all of the color changes, another story. Roughly 46.5 hours, 27 days, 4489 stitches, 3 skeins of pink, and 33 other colors. The lovely lady that commissioned this from me is a wonderful person. While we've been quarantined, she's been hard at work as a nurse! Prayers her way. I hope this sweater can bring her some joy amid all the chaos (just like the sleeves)!
Pattern: Shelleden About 3 years ago, Tim and I participated in a craft Saturday through our church. We stationed ourselves at the table with the over-sized mugs. We had bought 4 mugs but only had time to complete one a piece. They gave us special markers with ink that would become permanent once the mugs were baked in the oven. Once the ink sets overnight, you bake them in the oven at 375° for 40 minutes. My mug was a cityscape with a Batman signal peeking out. Tim's mug has our favorite Law of the Sea rules from The Lego Movie on it - "Never put your rear end on a pirate's face" & "Never release a kraken". I'd say, about 3 years of use and dishwasher cleanings, the artwork has held up pretty well with very minor, minor flaking. In order to finish our other two mugs, we went to Hobby Lobby and bought more of the glass paint markers. Life happened and we never got around to it. Two kids later, here we are finishing them and starting on our regular sized mugs. We found some designs that we liked, drew them on the mugs with pencil, and then traced the pencil with the markers. My last over-sized mug: Harry Potter themed with the grim made of tea leaves inside, mischief managed and the deathly hallows on the outside. Tim's last over-sized mug: The Green Dragon pub sign from The Lord of the Rings. I started a smaller mug and made it about Jigglypuff singing Snorlax to sleep, which isn't that hard to do anyway.
